The London boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea are set to be provided with a free wifi network this year, reports the BBC.Mobile provider O2 will oversee the new network, which will reportedly be powered by devices attached to street furniture. The company says that it aims to provide “millions” of people in the city with free access to the Internet.

It is the aim to have the wifi network ready for the Olympic games this summer.

London seems to be paying more attention recently to providing its residents with wifi. In November, it was announced that Finnish mobile giant Nokia was working to try and convert old phone booths in the city into wireless hotspots.
