To keep pace with other social networks, LinkedIn has launched company status updates. If you follow a company on the professional networking site, then you’ll now find status updates from that company appearing on your homepage. Status updates can be up to 500 characters long and, as with other social networks, are able to support links and multimedia.
It’s hardly a great leap forward in the world of social media, but it’s worth keeping an eye on what your company decides to share (if anything), given the recent warning by NIRI CEO Jeff Morgan that LinkedIn is ‘actively being used by expert networks, hedge funds and your competitors to obtain critical information about your organisation.’
