8:24 ET: Two men called The Guardian and described a gruesome scene in Tripoli. The first man says: “They [Gaddafi’s forces] have Kalashnikovs they keep going round and make sure no one can demonstrate so they go round the street, if anyone comes out they shoot them on the spot and they collect the bodies.“
The second describes a conversation with a Qaddafi guard: “He told me…’my colleagues…they are wearing white bands over their faces and they are going round in their cars and shooting demonstrators out in the streets‘. He said that himself.”
Tripoli remains dominated by Qaddafi supporters, who held another big rally last night.
Today airstrikes have continued on the rebel towns of Brega and Abdajiya.
This now looks like a civil war.
