Despite the bleak job market for law school grads, things don’t look completely terrible for the legal industry.Lawyers are the fifth-highest paid professionals in the country, MSNBC reported Tuesday, analysing recent numbers from the Bureau of labour Statistics.
The average salary for lawyers is $130,490.
Government lawyers earned just $81,960 to $129,430, making them poorer than most other lawyers.
Lawyers working for the petroleum and coal industries are apparently making bank, raking in $215,760 a year on average, according to MSNBC.
It takes a lot of work to break into this top-paying field, though.
Between college and law school, attorneys need seven years of education and still have to pass the bar exam, MSNBC pointed out.
Who made more than lawyers?
Doctors topped the list and were followed by orthodontists and dentists, chief executive officer, and petroleum engineer.
