Sometimes what you really need after a big night out is a good feed, but stale fries and squashed burgers from fast-food chains don’t always cut it.

There are many late-night food options available in Sydney, but not all are created equal.

Here are 10 of the best late-night food joints you can grab some great grub from after a big night out.

Low 302, Darlinghurst

A favourite haunt of Silverchair’s front man Daniel Johns, Low 302 can get pretty messy in the wee hours of the morning.

Don’t let that deter you though, because they serve a huge range of vegetarian bowls, and for meat lovers there are three types of charcuterie boards, and a Sunday roast special.

Open until 2am, 7 days a week
302 Crown St
Surry Hills NSW 2010
02 9368 1548

Maisy’s 24, Neutral Bay

You’ll have to head north of the bridge to get here, but the journey is worth it.

There are not many other places in Sydney you can get French toast with mixed berry compote, caramelised banana, shaved almonds and yoghurt at 2am.

Open 24 hours
164 Military Road
Neutral Bay NSW
02 9908 4030

Big Poppa’s, Darlinghurst

It’s a loud and rowdy joint, banging out old-school hip-hop favourites and serving fantastic Italian fare.

The cacio e pepe is deceptively simple but packs a big, cheesy flavour punch.

Open until 3am, 7 days a week
96 Oxford St
Darlinghurst NSW 2010

Arisun, CBD

***FRIED CHICKEN SPECIALIST SHORT REVIEW #11- Arisun, City 9.0/10*** The great thing about this place is that it’s open from 11am to 1230am on weekdays. On weekends until 2am so if you have a late night hankering for fried chicken- this is the place to be! Fried Chicken and Flavour- Soy chicken 9.0, Spicy 8.9 Soy Chicken- So nice and crispy with a very subtle hint of soy. Meat falls off the bone. Once you take a bite, it does get abit dry but there is plenty of sauce on the bottom of the chicken, so make sure to dip your chicken for more flavour. Spicy- The colour was red due to hotness. It had a great marinade which goes all the way through to the meat. The pieces of meat was very succulent and tasty. I do recommend trying the chicken with cheese! It is amazing. The cheese melts and long pieces of cheese string dangling from your mouth while you enjoy the different textures of flavour in your mouth. Next level! Hotness (for Hotnspicy) 6/10- It was not too hot but had great flavours. Price- Not too pricey $34 for half soy and half spicy chicken which can be shared Overall 9.0/10 The search for the best fried chicken continues! Current standings: Completed 1. Sparrow Mill 9.2/10 2. Marys Fried Chicken 9.1/10 3. Arisun Korean Fried Chicken 9.0/10 4. Wishbone 8.7/10 5. Red Lea Chicken Shop 8.6/10 6. Dirty Bird 8.5/10 7. Chicken and Sons 8.3/10 8. Chicken and beer. What could be a more winning combination?

The chicken comes deep-fried with your choice of sauce: honey tabasco, sweet soy, spicy, cheese sprinkle, garlic, or keep it simple with original.

If you tell your waiter to “make it cheesy”, your chicken will arrive on top of a chunk of melty, bubbling cheese.

If you haven’t tried the soupy, sloppy goodness that is the margherita pizza, you really need to.

You can buy by the slice or grab a whole pizza if you’re with a group or if you’re just feeling particularly peckish.

Make sure you also head to the secret backbar, which is one of Sydney’s best small bars.
