Kevin Love is re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a long-term contract.
After months of speculation that he would leave Cleveland or at least sign a short-term contract which would allow him to be a free agent when the salary cap explodes in 2016, Love will return to Cleveland on a five-year, $US110 million deal, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports.
He announced the decision in a blog post for The Players’ Tribune, a website where athletes write the posts:
Yeah, of course I’ve heard the free agency rumours. But at the end of the day, and after meeting with my teammates (it turns out pools are great meeting places) and with the front office, it was clear Cleveland was the place for me. We’re all on the same page and we’re all in. We have unfinished business and now it’s time to get back to work.
