Check Out This Map If You Need An Idea Of How Ridiculously Hot July Has Been

We may finally get a reprieve from the heat wave that smothered most the country for the past week.

But if you want an idea of just how scorching hot July has been so far, take a look at this interactive map from the National Climatic Data centre, which shows daily maximum temperatures broken this month (via NPR):

According to the centre, 1,904 records were broken and 572 were tied in the first eight days of July. The map pin-points all 2,476 records with a glaring red dot.

That’s pretty crazy when you consider that last year, 1,619 records were broken and another 1,136 tied for the entire month of July.
