A Peruvian court has agreed to extradite Joran van der Sloot to the U.S. with one catch. He has to finish his 28-year jail sentence in Peru first, the AP reported Monday.
Van der Sloot is currently behind bars in the South American country for killing Stephany Flores, a woman he met in a Lima casino.
He’s wanted in the U.S. in connection with the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway. While Holloway’s disappearance is still unsolved, he’s wanted in the U.S. for accepting $25,000 in early 2010 in exchange for a promise to lead her mother’s lawyer to the body, according to the AP.
He never fulfilled that promise.
Peru’s Supreme Court’s decision isn’t yet final. The justice minister and Cabinet must first approve it.
