Talk about a piece of rock history: a Gibson J-160 E Sunburst acoustic-electric guitar that’s been strummed by both John Lennon and Bob Dylan is about to hit the auction block.John Lennon reportedly composed and played songs on the guitar during the height of The Beatles’ success in the late sixties.
He may have even brought the guitar on the band’s famous expedition to Rishikesh, India prior to the release of The White Album in 1968, according to Auction Central News.
Lennon then passed on the guitar to musical icon Bob Dylan, who composed and toured with the instrument and kept it in his Manhattan home.
Dylan even brought the guitar to the recording studio in the 1960s and 1970s when he recorded acclaimed tracks such as “Planet Waves” and “Nashville Skyline.”
The guitar is expected to sell for upwards of $200,000 at the July 29 auction.
