Joe Torre has resigned from his post as MLB’s Executive Vice President for Baseball Operations, and will join an ownership group that will try to buy the L.A. Dodgers. It’s unclear which ownership group the legendary manager will be a part of, but Hardball Talk says the one led by real estate developer Rick Caruso is a possibility.
Torre managed the team from 2008 to 2010, and took an office job with MLB last February.
We could be headed for a showdown between Torre and fellow ex-athlete Magic Johnson, who’s a part of another potential buying group.
