Vice President Joe Biden stole the show while getting the chance to meet and greet Senators and their families at the Senate’s mock swearing-in ceremony on Thursday.During the swearing-in ceremony, Biden joked with new Senators and their mothers, prepared a female Senator by telling her she would be “frisked,” and offered some workout advice.
Here are Biden’s best interactions:
- In an awkward moment, Biden told new Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota that she was “gonna be frisked.”
- Biden explained his sister to Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly’s family. “Every time anyone meets my sister they turn and ask what it’s like having Joe as a brother. You know what her comment is? For real: ‘It’s been very difficult raising an older brother.'”
- Biden interacted with new Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and his toddler-age daughter. He asked if he could pick her up, and she then began crying. “It’s a Democrat, I know! but it’s OK!” Biden joked.
- Biden offered help to Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on his workout routine. “This guy looks like he still plays for South Carolina. Gamecocks! Need any help on your pecs, man, give me a call,” Biden said.
