Vice president Joe Biden peppered his speech with quips about Tiger Woods and Fox News during last night’s 2010 Radio and Television Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.
“The job does have some perks, like when Tiger Woods came to see me and gave me some tips,” he joked. “Hey guys, they were golf tips!”
He also took a jab at Fox News (while Bill O’Reilly was in the crowd): “You all know Saint Patrick was credited with banishing snakes from Ireland. But you guys all know the truth — sometimes — there were never any snakes in Ireland. Saint Patrick just made that up. Which for the first time explains, I realised, why he’s the patron saint of Fox News.”
Biden, who is typically self-depreciating, wasn’t afraid to take a few jabs at his own expense. He told the crowd of journalists and celebrities that he is a stand-in for the president, who typically hosts the annual dinner. “You know, a lot of you find it hard to understand why you get second billing,” he said. “Well, welcome to my world.”
