Jiwok is a neat startup with a simple, useful product: MP3s you can load on your iPod that will coach you to become a better runner.
Jiwok claims that thanks to its algorithm, it can create customised files, with music and advice, that help you progress at your own pace and according to your own strengths and weaknesses. The company designs the programs with the help of professional coaches, several of whom have coached Olympic teams or won national championships.
Sounds simple enough, but it’s the kind of helpful nudge most people need to get off the couch and put on the running shoes.
Unlike services like Nike+ and Runkeeper that help you track your fitness routines, Jiwok offers content that helps you run better.
15,000 customers pay $9.90 per months for the premium service and co-founder Denis Dhekaler says the startup has recently hit a million cumulative hours of coaching sessions. Right now the service can only help you with running, but Jiwok is planning swimming and fitness soon.
