Jeff Gundlach is currently hosting a conference call and presentation titled “Deficits Don’t Matter.”  His argument: deficits matter. In an early slide, Gundlach ran this image of “The Scream.”

He pointed out that the subject isn’t actually the one screaming.  Rather, he’s covering his ears to block out the screams coming from a nearby insane asylum.

Gundlach said that the painting reminded him of what’s going on in Europe.

“People in Europe have been covering their ears.”

He noted that voters voted in leaders that tout growth and anti-austerity.

However, Gundlach argues that growth is just code word for more debt, which is exactly how Europe got into its current mess.
