J.C. Penney is closing eight stores and firing 470 employees,CNBC reports.
The closings span eight states from New Jersey to California. The stores will permanently close in May. J.C. Penney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Here are the cities where stores will close:
- St. Louis
- Paramus, New Jersey
- Galesburg, Illinois
- Alexandria, Minnesota
- Bartlesville, Oklahoma
- Burlington, Washington
- Calexico, California
- Mt. Vernon, Ohio
J.C. Penney also revealed this week that it was closing a distribution center in Wisconsin that fulfils online orders. About 670 workers will lose their jobs as a result of the closing.
