Target’s impressive list of high fashion designer partnerships reads like a line-up for Fashion Week – Isaac Mizrahi, Missoni, Jason Wu, but its customers don’t have to pay the high end prices.
Jason Wu’s collection for the mass retailer went on sale this Sunday with price tags of $60 or less. The fashion line sold out in a morning – similar to the Missoni’s Target collection, which dwarfed Cyber Monday’s sales and brought down the company’s website last year.
Target’s main objective for partnering with designers is to drive traffic and create buzz. Hence, the high-end designers are only featured for a limited time and with limited quantity of items.
Clothes from Wu’s Target line were for sale on eBay for four times the original price even before the collection was launched.
