Facebook came in handy for police in Oregon working to solve a New Year’s Day car accident after a teen used the site to admit his drunk driving was to blame.Jacob Cox-Brown, 18, posted a Facebook status update in the early hours of New Year’s Day that read “Driving drunk… classic ;) but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P,” The Oregonian reported Thursday.
Police were already investigating a hit and run accident where a car sustained “significant damage” after being sideswiped when at least two of Cox-Brown’s Facebook friends reported the status.
Pieces of Cox-Brown’s car were found at the scene of the accident, police said. He was arrested on two charges of failing to perform the duties of a driver, according to The Oregonian.
The incriminating status has since been removed from his Facebook timeline, SFGate reported.
