J. Edgar to open in theatres Nov. 9 Warner Bros. has set the release date for J. Edgar, from director Clint Eastwood, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The biopic will open in theatres in limited release November 9, and then go wider two days later.
J. Edgar Hoover was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924 and was named head of the FBI when it was founded 11 years later. He remained director until his death in 1972 and came under attack late in his tenure for using the FBI to harass political activists and keeping secret files on leaders.
Warner Bros. also dated the post-9/11 drama Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, to open in limited markets on Christmas with an expansion to a wide release on Jan. 20. Stephen Daldry directed the story of a boy convinced that his father (Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade centre, has left a final message hidden somewhere in the city.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was pushed back two weeks to Feb. 10 from Jan. 27 and Alfonso Cuarón‘s outer-space adventure Gravity 3D, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, will open Nov. 21, 2012.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island comes to theatres September 23rd, 2011 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Josh Hutcherson, Anita Briem, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis. The film is directed by Brad Peyton.
