Yesterday the Associated Press profiled the CIA analyst who was responsible for putting together the pieces on the location of Osama bin Laden.
Identified only by his middle name, “John,” the analyst tracked bin Laden since just after the attacks of September 11th, and may have been the most important person in hunting him down.
The website Cryptome has made a compelling case that the man on the right is “John,” based on publicly released information and photographs.
The AP story says 'John' was in the room when this famous photo was taken, as the Osama bin Laden raid was taking place.
'Hidden from view, standing just outside the frame of that now-famous photograph was a career CIA analyst. In the hunt for the world's most-wanted terrorist, there may have been no one more important.'
At the far right of the photo, just above former defence Secretary Robert Gates is a tall man, standing just outside the frame. He may be the secretive 'John.'
This photo was taken at the same classified meeting about the raid in the White House Situation Room, by White House Photographer Pete Souza.
