Now that we know what the iPad 2 looks like, it’s time to move on to iPhone 5 rumours.A report from Economic Daily News working its way through the Apple blog world says Apple is giving up on the glass backing and the exterior antenna in favour of an aluminium backing.

The source for the report is a Chinese supply chain person.

Previously, we’ve heard reports Apple was shaking up its iPhone design for iPhone 5, so this makes sense to us.

The iPhone 4, while beautiful, has been hounded by controversy — from Antennagate, to trouble shipping the white iPhone, to rumours of the glass backing cracking.

The image included here is a mockup from Macotakara of what the iPhone 5 could look like. It’s closer to an iPad 2, or an iPod Touch than the current iPhone.
