Several iPhone 4S owners are experiencing echoes when they make calls using a wired headset, according to BGR.BGR was able to recreate the problem on their iPhone 4S handsets.
We tested two iPhone 4S units today with no problem.
However, yesterday one of our iPhone 4S units did produce echoes when we made a call with the wired headset.
According to the reports, the echoes don’t always start at the beginning of the call. It can take several minutes before the bug kicks in.
Still, complaints are rolling in. This thread on Apple’s support community has more than 9,000 views and 130 replies about the echo bug.
Here’s an excerpt from the original post that started the thread, posted by the user Themacguyver:
When using the Apple hands free headset with the phone during a call, I get an echo problem. It does not occur immediately. It can very from 30 seconds into a call and as far up to 9 mins in before it begins the annoying echo. If I unplug the headset it goes away but will return when I plug the headset back in. I have tried 3 brand new iphone 4s headsets with the same problems.
According to the support forum, the quick fix seems to be turning the iPhone’s speakerphone on and off.
Apple did now respond to a request for comment.
