New Leaked iPad Mini Photos Reveal Possible High-Speed Wireless Data

As we inch closer to the official announcement of the iPad Mini, a smaller version of Apple’s iconic tablet computer, new photos have emerged via UkrainianiPhone

This is the first time we’ve seen iPad Mini photos showing a black back. The material looks to be the same anodized aluminium present in the iPhone 5. (As always, we don’t know if these photos are real or fake, but we figure they’re worth sharing.)

Particularly interesting: the presence of what appears to be a black plastic strip running across the top of the photo. This suggests that some models of the iPad Mini may come with high-speed wireless data built in; the plastic strip is easier for wireless signals to penetrate.

Apple is expected to announce the iPad Mini later this month.

Below is another photo purportedly showing the inside of the case. Things we noticed:

  1. The headphone jack remains in the same position as the current iPad.
  2. The area highlighted with the number “2” shows us what appears to be a plastic “window” for high-speed connectivity.
  3. There’s a new, smaller SIM card tray for wireless data. It appears to be the new Nano-SIM card used in the iPhone 5.
  4. A new Lightning connector port, like the iPhone 5.
