How iPad Pricing Could Seriously Rock The Tablet Market

As the iPad faces competition from super cheap tablets like the Kindle Fire, it seems likely that Apple will slash the price of the iPad 2 upon the introduction of the iPad 3.If Apple introduces two new iPad 3s, as DigiTimes keeps reporting, then it makes it that much easier to price the iPad 2 closer to the Kindle Fire’s $200 price point.

The two hypothetical models would presumably cover the high and mid-range price points with the iPad 2 becoming the de facto “low end” model.

DigiTimes speculates that we could see an entry-level iPad 2 priced at $299, $349, or $399 after the iPad 3 becomes available.

Which do you think sounds more appealing to Joe Consumer — a 32 GB iPad 2 for $500 or a 32 GB Asus Transformer Prime for $500?
