Today’s advice comes from Tabatha Coffey, star of Bravo Television’s Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, via Fast Company:“Small business owners are most reluctant to understand that they may be the problem. It’s always hard to change and hearing that you may be the one that needs to change can be extremely hard for many owners.”
As the host of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, Coffey steps in to aid salons when they’re in danger of closing. According to her, small business owners tend to be blinded by authority and pride when it comes to their companies.
They may be set in their ways, making it hard for them to be receptive to taking advice and understanding that their methods aren’t working. Owning a business comes with responsibility and a portion of that responsibility means admitting that some of your principles are wrong and you need to go back to the drawing board. It may be hard to start over, but your business will benefit in the long run.
“I recognise that it’s incredibly hard to change and do things differently, especially if you have been doing the same thing for a long time, even if it hasn’t been working.”
