Today’s advice comes from Kathy Button Bell, vice president and chief marketing officer for Emerson Electric Co., in an interview with The New York Times:“I think patience, by far, teaches you what to do. The mistake people make is they try to do everything. Dave Farr, our CEO, says that if you have a to-do list of 10 things, rip it and do three. Just do three.
“I always say that one does what one likes to do. If you really think about it, you should like the things that are the biggest things.”
Button Bell also says that once something good happens, you need to “take wild advantage” of it right away. Sometimes it may be the only good news you have to tell a superior before something bad happens later, she says.
