INSTANT MBA: Companies Should Forget About Being Good At Everything

Tracy Grave Stevens Innoviss CEO

Today’s advice comes from Innoviss Chairman and CEO Tracy Graves-Stevens’ interview with“In the current environment of rapidly changing technologies and priorities, no one company can be the single solution anymore – you have to focus on your core competencies and be able to forge the right partnerships to get the job done.”

Stevens has more than 25 years experience in the defence and Intelligence industries and has served for seven years as president of MSM Security Services, which created Innoviss, a private cybersecurity firm that specialises in government-related background investigation.

The company remains competitive by capitalising on their government intelligence expertise to develop new technology and by leveraging outside relationships to fulfil all of their customers needs.

Companies run into problems when they try to be good at everything, but nobody can be the sole solution for everybody — it’s just not in the cards. Instead, focus on what you do well, says Stevens.

“No matter the requirement, [the companies] have the answer,” says Stevens. “The question that should be asked, though, is: Can they do it well?”
