WALKTHROUGH: This App Turns Instagram Into A Text Messaging Service

InstaDM has only been in the Apple App Store for 6 days, but it’s already been downloaded more than 150,000 times.It’s funded by its users and taps Instagram’s 30 million plus user base.

We were curious what a direct messaging service for Instagram looked like, so we checked it out.

This is the front screen.

You can look through your Instagram contacts to see who is on the service.

This is how you add friends.

Or do a quick search.

Invite someone.

You can even add an entire group.

You can start chatting in under a minute.

It looks a lot like the iPhone's text messaging app.

Conversations are all saved, so you can go back to them.

To keep the app going, donations are accepted. In 6 days, there have been 865 in-app donations made since launch. From the looks of it, Ne-Yo and T-Pain have chipped in.
