The latest data on initial jobless claims crosses the wires at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Economists expect that claims ticked up slightly to 270,000.

Claims fell more than expected to 268,000 last week.

The reading has been below the threshold of 300,000 for 64 straight weeks — the longest streak since 1973.
