400K: Initial Jobless Claims Basically Exactly Flat

The number: Basically exactly flat, and not a market-moving number.

Last week was revised higher to 401K.

It could be worse.

All eyes turn to the jobs report tomorrow.


Original post: The latest labour data: Initial claims for last week comes out at 8:30, and analysts expect an uptick from 398K to 405K.

Given the general weakness of late, anything in this range should be a little relief.

There is a chance of a surprise spike due to the situation at the FAA resulting in (perhaps) up to 70K people unexpectedly out of work.
