Queensland independent MP Bob Katter says he will no longer guarantee confidence and supply to the Turnbull government,
The member for Kennedy yesterday accused the government of behaving “like a pack of dingoes” and today on Sky News, said he would no longer back the government, which has a majority of one, and is currently under pressure due to the New Zealand citizenship status of deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce.
“It’s back to the drawing board,” Katter said.
He said Malcolm Turnbull failed to deliver on commitments made to him after the last election when he agreed to support them to form government
“I wanted and need certain things. I wasn’t delivered certain things,” he said.
For now, his decision means no change for the government, but the potential loss of any Coalition MP could mean losing votes in the lower house and potentially, power.
Katter has also been pushing for a royal commission into Australia’s banks – a proposal resisted by the government.
