Impermium, a Palo Alto-based anti-spam startup created by three ex-Yahoos, is said to be raising a big new round of financing. We’re hearing it’s an ~ $8 million round at an estimated pre-money valuation of $50 million. We don’t know who will be leading the round, but we hear cofounders Mark Risher, Vish Ramarao and Naveen Jamal received a flurry of term sheets from Charles River Ventures, Foundry Group and Highland Capital Partners.

Risher left Yahoo in June 2010 and Impermium was first introduced in June of this year. It previously raised $1 million from Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures, AOL Ventures and others.

The startup detects spammy content. It apparently has a lot of customers already including the government which has been working with Impermium on some top secret spam projects.
