Everyone assumes that the No. 1 suitor for free agent pitcher Cliff Lee this winter will be the deep-pocketed New York Yankees. We guess someone should have told their fans before they hurled obscenities and beer at his wife during the ALCS.
Kristen Lee sat among the rabble at Yankee Stadium during the Rangers playoff appearances in New York and the town did not make a great impression on the woman who could help sway the biggest decision of baseball’s offseason.
She says there were ugly taunts. Obscenities. Cups of beer thrown. Even fans spitting from the section above.
“The fans did not do good things in my heart,” Kristen says
So if the team is stuck with Phil Hughes or A.J. Burnett in another deciding game next year, fans in the Bronx will know who to thank. Themselves.
