On Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested more than 3,100 illegal immigrants with criminal records in the third and largest operation of its kind.  Codenamed “Operation Cross Check,” the undocumented aliens ranged from gang members to convicted sex offenders to illegal re-entrants who had been deported before.  

The last Cross Check operation conducted in September 2011 resulted in the arrest of 2,901 individuals.

The arrests took place over six days and involved more than 1,900 agents

Arrests were made in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and D.C.

The sweep targeted criminal aliens, fugitives and immigration violators
