Later this year, Hyundai will be adding a dash of fun to its lineup with a turbocharged version of the sporty Veloster hatchback. And like cars that cost $50,000 more, you can get the $21,000 Veloster Turbo in a very cool Matte Grey paint like the one they used on the concept car.
But, according to AutoGuide, you better be ready to care for this paint like it’s your first born child.
Matte paints are different from the standard gloss you’ll find on a car, and they require a stunning amount of care. The matte colour costs an extra $1,000 and Hyundai will require that you sign an actual waiver acknowledging that you can care for it properly.
You need to have two buckets of water and soap to wash it, a grit guard to keep dirt out of the water, a pressure washer, and it needs to be done in the shade. There are also special matte cleaners to keep the paint looking fresh.
It’s going to cost you way more than $1,000 when all is said and done and it just sounds like a huge pain. Get regular paint, save yourself some money, and get a car that you can drive and not worry about.
