HSBC Considering Fleeing London For Paris Over Regulation Worries

France is trying to lure HSBC away from London as the bank struggles with an uncertain regulatory environment in the UK, according to The Telegraph.Hints of a move come just months after HSBC had to deny its intention to move its headquarters to Hong Kong after weeks of speculation.

HSBC already has its government bond trading business headquartered in Paris, so it’s not too much of a stretch for the firm.

But what this makes clear is that some of Britain’s biggest banking names are seriously considering a change in address, with Barclays rumoured to be heading to the U.S. as well.
