This detailed graphic shows how to perfectly throw a paper aeroplane

Going Deep with David Rees is one of my favourite science-of-everyday-life television shows.

In each episode, Rees stays true to the title and goes really deep — deeper than you could imagine needing to go — to find detailed answers to everyday questions.

The graphic below, from the National Geographic channel’s website, shows all the different steps Rees detailed in the episode in which he learned how to properly throw a paper aeroplane:

The infographic is useful but it doesn’t really encapsulate what I love about the show — Rees’ incredible enthusiasm and jokes when learning new things. So here’s a couple of great clips from the show.

Here’s Rees learning how things fly from Al Boswers and Red Jensen from NASA:

This great musical clip, with the Paper Aeroplane Guy John Collins in an aeroplane hanger, includes a bunch of other fun paper aeroplane designs including The Tube, The Thumbling Wing, and the Boomerang:

Going Deep aired in 2015 on the National Geographic channel, which created the infographic above.

According to a tweet from Rees the show is slated to come back for a 2015 season starting in November on Esquire network.
