So many people want to see Tampa Bay take on Texas tonight that the Rays decided to increase the capacity of their stadium. Overnight.Normally, the upper reaches of Tropicana Field are off limits, with dozens of rows of seats, covered by giant blue tarps. This has the effect of making the stadium seem more full on TV–and lowers the official capacity of the stadium, which makes their actual tickets sales seem more impressive by comparison.
And on the rare occasion when when the team might actually draw enough fans to sell them out (like a deciding game of a playoff series?) they just pull back the tarps and … abracadabra! We do have tickets available!
A quick check of Ticketmaster shows that even the extra seats are gone, but standing room only is available for $30.
