TikTok has been hiring aggressively in the US since 2020.
When the app was trying to win the favor of the Trump administration in the fall, it offered to add 20,000 jobs in the US where it’s headquartered and has grown its user base exponentially.
Now TikTok, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, appears to be on more favorable footing with the current Biden administration. President Biden signed an executive order revoking Trump’s attempts to ban TikTok and another app owned by a Chinese company, WeChat.
But TikTok is still hiring heavily. It has nearly 500 job postings on LinkedIn that are based in the US, and nearly 1,100 worldwide.
Given TikTok’s hiring goals, Insider has updated our analysis of how much TikTok employees make in the US.
We combed through public data to get a snapshot of TikTok salary levels. We first published this analysis in December and updated the story with the latest data available.
The data, released by the US Department of Labor’s Office of Foreign Labor Certification, shows how much TikTok and ByteDance offered to pay employees who it wanted to hire in the US through work visas. The data include base annual salaries only, not forms of compensation such as stock options or cash bonuses.
TikTok and ByteDance offered certain staffers between October 2019 and March 2021 annual base salaries ranging from $59,700 to $480,000 for a variety of different roles, according to the data.
