Forbes released its list of highest-paid actors in Hollywood, tallying up earnings between May 2011 and 2012.And it finally brought some good news for Tom Cruise this week, who, despite his divorce drama of the past week, tops the list.
Also making the cut are a long list of stars with big movie franchises. People go out to see the familiar whether in a returning kiddie flick, or an action movie that’s churning out a third or fourth film more than a decade later.
Left off the list include Brad Pitt, George Clooney. And Robert Pattinson just misses the mark at number 11.
Shocked? The 20-year-old 'Twilight' star has more than his werewolf role going for him. Lautner also starred in action flick 'Abduction' which grossed $82 million worldwide on an estimated $35 million budget.
Next summer, Lautner will set his sights on comedy as he stars alongside Adam Sandler in the sequel to 'Grown Ups.'
Though 'Dark Shadows' tanked at the box office, Depp still has the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise going for him. The actor is already set to sail again in a fifth film as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Depp will also star as Tonto in 'The Lone Ranger' next year.
'The Dictator' actor may not have fared as well as possible with his latest comedy; however, Cohen was also in 'Hugo' which took home five Oscars and the wildly successful 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.'
In March, Paramount signed an exclusive three-year first-look deal with Cohen where the studio will have first dibs on any of the comedian's films.
Sometimes it pays to 'dump ashes' on Ryan Seacrest.
Next up, we'll see Cohen alongside Anne Hathaway in 'Les Misérables.'
Stiller has a few successful film franchises going for him. Not only did the actor star in a 'Meet the Parents' sequel, but also kid friendly 'Night at the Museum' and 'Madagascar.'
It's unsure how Stiller's next film, 'The Watch' will fare at the box office. Fox's comedy underwent a name and marketing change from 'neighbourhood Watch' after teen Trayvon Martin was killed by a neighbourhood watch member.
The abrupt change renders slightly confusing since the name 'neighbourhood Watch' is still prominently displayed on the jackets of the lead characters in film previews.
The actor is already set to star in the next sequel 'The Fast and the Furious 6' and will star in Paramount's pushed back 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' sequel next summer.
Despite a string of recent flops ('Jack and Jill' and now 'That's My Boy'),--in three weekends at theatres, the latter has earned $37.6 million worldwide (Compare that to an estimated $70 million production budget.)--people love Sandler films. His 2010 comedy, 'Grown Ups' earned $268 million worldwide and currently has a sequel set for July of next year.
Next up, Sandler will star in animated film, 'Hotel Transylvania,' one of four films the actor currently has in production.
DiCaprio may not have had box-office (or Oscar) success with 'J. Edgar,' earning $79 million worldwide; however, he's still one of the most sought after actors at the moment in a leading role.
Cruise may not be doing so well with his personal life; however, things are looking up, for now, career-wise.
Next up, Cruise has movies 'Jack Reacher' and 'Oblivion,' for which the actor is currently filming.
Mark Wahlberg is one of the highest paid stars and has also undergone dramatic changes for his roles.
