The HMS Dauntless, the second of the British Navy’s new Type 45 destroyer ships, has set sail to the Falklands from Portsmouth, the Independent reports.Crowds gathered to see off the ship, which British officials said was only on a routine deployment.
The HMS Dauntless is worth over £1 billion ($1.57 billion), and has been described as “the most advanced anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic ship in the world”.
“It can shoot down Argentine fighters as soon as they take off from they bases,” a Navy source told the Telegraph in January.
Tensions between Argentina and the British remain high, and there were riots outside the British Embassy in Buenos Aires this week.
