If you want to make a lot of money in your career, a medical occupation may be right for you.

Using the latest data from the Bureau of Labour Statistics’ Occupational Employment Statistics program, we identified the 30 detailed occupations with the highest mean annual salaries as of May 2019, the most recent period for which data is available.

Unsurprisingly, doctors and other medical professionals are very well compensated. The top 10 highest-paying jobs were all various medical and dental occupations.

The 30 highest-paying occupations all earned over $US129,000 annually in May 2019. Anesthesiologists, which ranked No. 1, earned more than double that with a mean annual salary of $US261,730.

Here are the 30 highest-paying jobs in America, along with their mean annual salary, estimated number of people employed in each occupation as of May 2019, and a brief description of the occupation from the Labour Department’s O*NET occupational database.


30. Postsecondary law teachers
