Here’s a look at the schools that spent the most money on their athletic departments during the 2011-12 school year.

As public schools, they are not-for-profit, so in most cases, there is a direct correlation between the amount of revenue generated by the football (and in some cases, the men’s basketball team), and the amount of money spent by the entire athletic department.
