In 2010, less than three in 10 Americans knew who John Roberts was. Today, Roberts has become the talk of Washington with his surprise ruling in the Supreme Court’s upholding of the Affordable Care Act. Roberts crushed the political right. At the same time, the political left now has something of a crush on him (see this Barack Obama-inspired “Hope” poster).
Conservatives, too, might also come around again when they learn how he upheld the mandate and, in effect, slapped down the federal government’s original arguments.
With Roberts’ popularity soaring, there was only one thing we could do: Meme-ify him. Obviously, we went according to the mould of Ryan Gosling….
