Here are today’s winners and losers.Winners:

NVIDIA (NVDA): Up 3.4 per cent  Apple unveiled its newest MacBook Pro, which will include a graphics chip from NVIDIA, causing the stock’s price to shoot up since the announcement.

Progress Energy (PGN): Up 3.5 per cent  Progress Energy announced that its purchase by Duke Energy is expected to close by July 1.

State Street (STT): Up 2.8 per cent  Goldman Sachs is selling its $200 billion hedge fund administration unit to State Street, which will make STT the largest hedge fund administrator in the world.

Losers:

Alpha Natural Resources (ANR) Down 4.9 per cent — ANR announced that it plans to downsize its coal mining business in Kentucky following new regulations. 

United States Steel (X) Down 4.9 per cent — United States Steel is getting hurt by increasingly low steel prices, down near 5 per cent on the day.

W.W. Grainger (GWW) Down 3.9 per cent — Grainger saw same store sales increase 13 per cent but cautioned that 5 per cent of the increase was due to acquisitions
