More and more companies are abandoning traditional advertising and trying to go viral.
Nokia’s latest ad created by Wieden + Kennedy offers 80 seconds of the largest and perhaps the coolest stop-motion animation you’ve ever seen. Only the latest 10 seconds mentions Nokia and cuts to show one of three N8 phones used for filming.
Sure enough the video is going viral. In a few days it has wracked up 800,000 views on Youtube, with another 200,000 views for a making of video. Another animation produced last year by Nokia has nearly 3 million views.
Even though the brand name isn’t mentioned until the end, viewers get the message from the clip title: Gulp. The world’s largest stop-motion animation set, shot on a Nokia N8.
