As has been rumoured before, Google will reportedly release multiple Nexus-branded phones this fall in time for the Holiday shopping season, according to DigiTimes.Nexus phones run a clean version of Android, meaning there aren’t any software modifications from the manufacturers. DigiTimes says Sony, Samsung, LG, and HTC will each have a Nexus phone this year.

It’s a very different strategy from years past. Google typically chooses one manufacturer to make a Nexus phone, and that device becomes the “hero” Android phone for a year.

Now it seems Google will try out multiple Nexus phones and sell them all through its online Google Play store.

We’re expecting Google to announce its new Nexus lineup in a month or so.
