Google Is Testing A Photo-Sharing App Called Pool Party

Google is testing a new mobile photo-sharing app called Pool Party built by Slide, the social startup the company bought last year.

MG Siegler at TechCrunch first reported on Pool Party and got a couple of screenshots of the app, which seems to be Android only at this point.

Slide previously released a group messaging app called Disco. But Google built a completely different group messaging app called Huddle as part of Google+.

It’s not clear why Google needs Slide if it’s got Vic Gundotra and his team working on Google+, a much bigger and more strategically important set of social services. This sounds like the kind of duplicate effort that Microsoft is so famous for — maybe we’ll soon see product groups trying to kill each other in turf wars.
