The Vampire Squid has received a Whale-sized pool of job applications. In fact, the application pool for new recruits at Goldman Sachs is bigger than it has ever been, according to the bank’s president and COO, Gary Cohn, who spoke at the Sanford C. Bernstein 2012 Annual Strategic Decisions Conference on Thursday.

Cohn said the application pool is so massive these days that Goldman “can’t even process all the kids on the same day.”

What’s more is the bank even had to start its summer analyst program on two different days, he said.
