Gmail Adds Handy "Preview Pane" Labs Feature So You Can Reply To Emails While You Browse Your Inbox

Gmail just posted on the Gmail Blog about a new Labs feature that lets you add a two-column view to Gmail on a computer.

It’s similar to how Gmail looks when you view it through the web app on an iPad, and how the iPad’s mail app looks. In fact, it looks a lot like desktop email clients.

This means you can alter the panes between vertical and horizontal orientations.

So do you really need all that space to preview the first line of each email? Give this Labs feature a try and find out.

Head to Mail Settings in Gmail, then the Labs tab, then click “Enable” next to Preview Pane.
