Bulls announcer butchers an attempt to pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo's last name

The Milwaukee Bucks played the Chicago Bulls in their first preseason game on Wednesday, which meant that Bulls TV colour commentator Stacey King was tasked with saying Giannis Antetokounmpo’s name live on air just before tip-off.

Now, the Greak Freak certainly has one of the longer last names in the NBA, but he’s also been in the league now for three years.

But King’s attempt to pronounce “Antetokounmpo” was truly a spectacular failure.

Give it a listen (courtesy of Yahoo):

We’ll credit King for pronouncing Giannis correctly. And, yes, it’s still preseason. TV commentators are, evidently, just as rusty as some of the players.

Anyway, here’s a helpful phonetic guide to the Greak Freak’s name (courtesy of Yahoo’s Dan Devine), so you don’t have to embarrass yourself as badly as King did:

“YAHN-iss ah-deh-toh-KOON-boh.”
